Stormking

Woke up one night, escaped from a dream
Told my wife of what I’d seen
The air was cold, the trees were green
The men were bold, and the ladies lean

Cast ‘pon a hill, t’was in the morn
When I awoke my clothes were torn
A thousand men lay bathed in red
Of mankind’s sport, I turned and fled

Along a road, I spied two men
Whose eyes revealed had seen their ends
The boastful songs of crowns and rings
Laid bare their fear, of the man Stormking

A prisoner of the men I’d seen on the road
I knew my fate had come to die
But as the axe was lifted over my head
The heavens sang a battle cry!
His savage sword had made quick deaths of the foes
It seemed a debt had been repaid
Yet as he turned I saw his mirror-like eyes
Unspoken questions in his gaze
(He’d suffered on the blade)

A wizard taught him of the ways of the world
Enchanted books with all their skills
But all he trusted was the weight of his sword
Barbarian sons are born to kill!

I mended what I could, his gods did the rest
We sat in silence to the pain
He murmured battles and the creatures of hell
I knew that Stormking was his name
His voice was sullen as he told me a tale
On Mitra’s coming was the day
He spoke of love and of the woman he lost
And how the kidnapper would pay!

Genevieve
You’re the daughter of the wind
Blowing leaves of beauty’s stare
Abound your hair
Genevieve
O’ the love I hold within
For no one but you

May the stars
Guide me true to where you are
Like the flame of candle’s light
Shine through my night
O’ Genevieve
I will search across the sea
Till the day you are free
And you come back to me
      Genevieve

The time had come to choose of the ways
I wondered how it would feel to stay
To wield the sword and conquer the spells
To steal the gold from where demons dwell

He bade me come and take up the arms
To free the maids and win their charms
With boastful songs of crowns and rings
To join the tale of the man – Stormking

Woke up one night, escaped from a dream
Told my wife of what I’d seen
The air was cold, the trees were green
The men were bold, and the ladies lean
